SoCaOutdoors – Intro
Hello and Welcome to SoCaOutdoors. We are a relatively new Web Resource (since Feb 2016) that is driven to bring you to the Action. Our primary mission is to expose great things to do outdoors in beautiful Southern California. Our main focus is essentially from Santa Barbara North down to San Diego South and The Channel Islands West to Joshua Tree East. Our base point of operations is from Los Angeles so for the moment we will exclusively spend our resources there.
We aim to bring to you activities that can be done in up to an hour or less as well as more extensive multi hour or perhaps multi day ventures. We also intend to highlight minimal expense and minimal efforts on your part wherever possible. All you need is a means for transit, a few basic items and a zest to try something different. For starters we will bring to you:
- Disc Golf
- Hiking
- Spotting – includes Mushroom Foraging, Birding, Animal sighting, etc
- Running/Walking
- Rock Climbing
Fishing – Future offering
Surfing – Future offering
Clearly some of these require higher fitness levels to begin with but not all. Additionally, they all have minimal to nominal start up costs and are fairly accessible throughout all of Los Angeles County year round.
We will spotlight specific locations weekly and encourage feedback on things we present or things you want presented.
Our intent is to provide additional resources as well so we encourage providing additional links to applicable sites. If the link is approved by our staff as appropriate it will be posted in the resource listing.
